Chen
Jason Gross is Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical, Materials, and Aerospace Engineering at West Virginia University, where he directs the WVU Navigation Lab and co-coordinates the university's robotics program. His research focuses on perception and localization for robotic and unmanned aerial systems, with an emphasis on robust multi-sensor navigation and state estimation. He received his B.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering and his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, all from WVU, and worked as a technologist in the Near-Earth Tracking Applications Group at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory before joining the WVU faculty. He led WVU's team in the NASA Space Robotics Challenge 2. His recognitions include the Institute of Navigation Per Enge Early Achievement Award and Samuel M. Burka Award, both in 2024, and elevation to AIAA Associate Fellow in 2024.
